We can learn a lot from using the tools that we have, the AI engines that have come out in the community. I continue to work hard to incorporate AI as a "co-intelligence" or "AI partner" in all my personal workflows to improve my effectiveness and better understand these remarkable tools.
For research, I now start with Perplexity, but ChatGPT-4 is still my primary tool for analysis and brainstorming. The updated Claude is impressive too, and I have also been testing Pi from Inflection, and You.com.
ChatHub is a Chrome browser extension that is very helpful for easily comparing answers across different AI models. You can test all of these different AI actors right next to each other, and compare. An earlier blog post discussed the upcoming SEO bloodbath using the example “What are the best EV sedan vehicles in the United States?” Understanding the work of each available AI engine gets us closer to envisioning how search and everything else will work in, say, 2027.
ChatHub has also been invaluable for personal shopping. Recently, I asked the above six AIs, "What is the best battery power pack for a MacBook Pro?" While they didn't all agree, Anker was the most preferred by my focus group of AIs.
Asking more subjective questions can also be a great way to compare models and really get some insight into just how they differ. I asked “my AI team” for the top three reasons to be a proud American. They agreed on freedom and diversity, but disagreed on the third reason, suggesting innovation, global leadership, economic opportunities, and beautiful scenery.
Why is this type of research important? Partly because we’re soon going to be surrounded by these AI agents, at least at work, if not in our personal lives, too. We’re quickly moving to a world where, say, a 1,000-person company has hundreds of different AI robots (a community of both large and small models), each with their own personality, data sets, and opinions.
The world is changing, but tomorrow I’m still going to enjoy my usual 4th of July hot dog, and take another look at the constitution. Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
